Microwave Digital Casting is a new manufacturing process that combines 3D Printing, Material Science, and Microwave Energy to deliver a fast, scalable, sustainable, and cost-effective process for the manufacture of complex metal parts in any alloy.
P3 ADDITIVE pairs Metallum3D's Microwave Digital Casting Furnace and manufacturing process with FFF or Resin 3D Printers to deliver a solution we call the P3 DIGITAL FOUNDRY.
Microwave Digital Casting is a scalable production technology that gives your team the same design benefits of traditional metal AM technologies, without the long processing times and part size limitations of sinter-based solutions.
4-Step Microwave Digital Casting Process
- Step 1: The metal part to be made is 3D printed with Metallum3D's "Print-to-Cast Filament" in a FFF 3D Printer or "Print-To-Cast Resin" in a SLA/DLP Printer
- Step 2: Pour Metallum3D's "Quick-Mold" material over the pattern which hardens into a microwave suscepting mold
- Step 3: The mold is placed in Metallum3D's patent-pending Microwave Furnace to rapidly burn off the 3D printed part leaving behind a mold cavity
- Step 4: The mold cavity is filled with a metal powder and placed in the microwave furnace to rapidly melt the metal powder into a casted part
